Amsterdam in 2 days

Going to Amsterdam for a couple of days. Just wondering what attractions are a must see and what ones would you not waste your time on? Will be visiting early Sept. Also any recomendations on where to eat, where to stay and transportation? I am traveling on a budget with 2 other people so there is 3 of us. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

For accom try stayOK VondelPark , part of International Youth Hostel. Beaut place, clean en-suite, tram at door and close to some of the museums..

From Schipol direct train into Amsterdam Central Station, Tram depot just outside and to the right as you leave the station. Buy 'strippenkart' tickets for your tram ride to Vondel Park at the station or ?... Its so easy to tram and walk around Amsterdam.

Must see/do depends on your interests. No.1 would be a canal cruise for orientation, fun and history.

There are free walks starting from the Central Station or Dam Square at about 10 am and 1 pm.

Lots of places to eat, and if you are on a budget, pick up bread rolls etc at the gocery shop. I found Pizza was very expensive, but as in most places Chinese is value for money.

What do YOU want to see in Amsterdam?
