Falling $$$$$

We are traveling to Amsterdam the end of July. I'm concerned about the falling dollar. Does anyone have advice on whether we should purchase euros here the the US now or wait and hope the rate gets better.

Thank you -

Unfortunately, if we knew that we'd be speculating on the currency markets and making out fortunes.

Perhaps you could hedge your bets and get some now.

You have already answered your own queston...if you are concerned about the US$ dropping relative to the Euro (which apprently is your view) then clearly you need to buy asap!

Personally, I think that unless you are exchanging in excess of say US$ 10,000, it doesn't really matter.

It is always better to purchase your euros here in The Netherlands (prefably from an ATM)because the exchange rate is better here. Even if the dollar would fall a bit more, you will still pay more dollars for your euros in The USA than in Europe.

Just go to the ATM there and use your regular bank card to get cash. Make sure it's a bank ATM. You'll get ripped off by the exchange places in the airport if you try to do so with cash. Happens in every airport.
