Schiphol to Paris by train

Am taking the train to Gare du Nord from Schiphol but now have to meet a friend at Charles de Gaulle on the way. Is there a Charles de Gaulle stop or is the train direct to Gare du Nord?

Hi there,

Can't do "on the way". The Brussels-Paris GdN route runs, logically, on north side of Paris. CDG is on north/northeast side and has no station on this Thalys line. It does have a local train (RER) link however to GdN station with one transfer. So it looks like you'd need to make a return journey GdN-CDG on the train to pick him up.

An alternative for the RER could be SNCF trains because CDG also has a SNCF station, but not certain whether this has any direct link to GdN. You'd have to check on the SNCF and RER sites and/or ask in TA Paris forum.

All the best,

<Erik> & [Sandya]

seems like it would be easier for your friend to make his way from CDG to GdN and meet you there..

Alternaively there is a direct TGV from CDG to Brussels so yoour friend could take this and you can meet up in Brussels where they could pick up the Thalys you are travelling on. This could be more expensive though and the trains are less regular that the Thalys so you would have to check on this.

Otherwise as already said your friend will have to make their way to Gare du Nord and meet you there.

Just back from a weekend in Paris by train. :-)

Funnily enought Chantal, I have been researching exactly the same trip as I have to fly out of CDG in December.

You can get direct from Brussels to CDG but there are not so many services and it is expensive. If you book well in advance (Ticket sales open 3 months before travel) you can get Smileys fares of 70 euro return on the Thalys from Amsterdam to Gare du Nord. The cheapest fares going direct to CDG are twice that.

From Gare du Nord there is a very frequent RER service to CDG. This takes about 20 minutes. For me ts a no brainer. Thalys to Gare du Nord then the RER.
