British Airways Pier @ Schiphol

Which Pier and gates does BA usually use for flights to/from London Heathrow?

Can you still go upto the gate early (like a few years ago) or do you know have to wait to be called from the main lounge. When i last visited 2005 most of the gates were having their own security scanners installed.

Are they going to way of Prague airport? i.e NO central security.

Hi there,

The D gates. And of course the lower-floor ones as the topfloor ones are for Schengen flights. Still go-as-you-please; the main lounge concept is only for the budget flight piers on far east side.

The non-Schengen flights now all have security at the gate. Only Schengen zone still has central X-ray.

Have fun,

You will go through passport control and central security once you have checked in or dropped your luggage off if you have checked on online.

You will then be in the main lounge area(s) and you can either go straight to the gate or shop around; just make sure that you are at the gate no later than the time stated on your Boarding Pass - usually 30 minutes before take-off.

No one is called to the gate these days (unless yopu are late and they are about to remove your baggage from the plane!); you have to keep an eye on the tv screens to check the status of your flight.

Depending on the particular gate, you may have to go through a second security check at the gate and you will also have to show your passport (again) at this stage.

On BA flights, you must also show your boarding pass stub to the cabin staff as you enter the plane.

BA flights to London normally leave from Pier D; often from D27 or thereabouts - the furthest away from the main lounge!
