Apartment deposit/cleaning fee

Am renting this apartment Ninfea, located in Via 3 luglio n.2 Cortona, is also called Casa Marcella (got the link on TA) from www.cortonaevents.com. Looks lovely and I am happy with it.

Just wondering if it usual to be asked to send an electronic deposit of €100 euro to their bank and also pay a cleaning fee of €40.

Have rented apartment before in Italy and was not asked for either of the above, also hotels do not need this either.

Anyone stayed here and know if this is normal procedure ??

1. Re: Apartment deposit/cleaning fee

The cleaning fee is quite usual and a very reasonable fee. The cost of cleaning is incurred once at the end of each rental, and so it makes sense to have a separate charge.

A deposit is also usual, and provides some protection to the apartment owner in the event that a tenant fails to turn up.
