31st December to 3rd January in Sicily

Hello friends,

New Year Eve - We will land in Catania on 31st and drive straight to Taormina right away to spend the night at President Hotel Splendid.

1. What is the best countdown gathering spot (concerts, fireworks..) at Taormina for 2017-2018? (no disco).

2. Which tourist spots & wineries (taormina to Marsala area) are open on the 1st January?

We will be driving from Taormina to Noto (road E45) to Valley of the Temples (Road SS115) to Marsala.

Valley of the Temples posted the following weblink in their website. So I am assuming that they are open on that day. Please let me know if you know otherwise.

1st January 2018. If someone could confirm that will be truly appreciated.

3. Is Favignana beaches (Spiaggia di Cala San Nicola, Scalo Cavallo, Cala Rossa etc) open on the 2nd? Is there is fee to get into these beaches in Favignana? If so how much?

4. What is the safest and scenic drive from Cefalu to Catalina?

Thanks in advance,

Mou

1. Re: 31st December to 3rd January in Sicily

This is winter and not summer, and so holidays in winter, and especially during the holiday season are very different from a holiday during the tourist season and summer.

Taormina is compact. Find the schedule of festivities -

Agrigento's Valley of the Temples is open every day of the year.

It's low season, and not beach season, and so reconsider Favignana.
