Bari to Alberobello

Hi there,

We are spending a few days in Bari and want to visit Alberobello. I know that you can travel on the train but I am just wondering if it would be better to do a tour. Some of them are quite expensive but I have seen one for €69 per person. Would this be a good idea or is it easy enough to see Alberobello on our own if we just got the train?

Also is it the case that trains don't operate on a Sunday?

Thank you.

Selbeep.

Alberobello is dead easy to explore on your own, absolutely no need for an expensive tour. Just note that the trains leave from the Ferrovie Sud Est railway station, rather than the main Bari Centrale station. It’s only a 10 minute walk from the main station though.

In Alberobello I ate at Trattoria Amatulli and was very impressed.

BTW while in Bari I highly recommend a day trip to Matera, one of the most unique and interesting places I’ve been.

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply. Can I just check that I’m right about the trains operating on a Sunday. It’s just that we arrive on a Friday and would prefer to explore Bari on the Saturday but if the trains don’t go on a Sunday we may just go to Alberobello on our first day.

FSE trains do NOT run on Sundays.

Take the FSE bus instead.

If the trains don't run, the buses do run.

It seems that the buses start at 12.30 a.m. and there are no buses in the morning?

Easter Sunday and Easter Monday are National holidays, and bus schedules run on Sunday and holiday schedules, and some runs are very limited these two days.
