We are a family of five (two adults and three children 9, 9 & 10) travelling to Puglia in July.
We have 2 nights left to book and finding it hard to decide. We are staying four nights in Lecce with the plan to visit Gallipoli, Ontrato and Ostuni while there then we make our way north to spend one night in Matera and if we can check out Arbelobello. For our final two nights I thought staying in a seaside town close to Bari would be nice as we fly out from there and staying by the sea would be a nice change.
We would like to do some day trips from wherever we base ourselves. Towns like Polignano a Mare and Monopoli come up a lot but the decision is difficult. We also wanted to stay in a place with a great sea view and Polignano has very few places left for our dates. Relating to that I read on one of the forums that many places don't release prices until March for Summer so showing up as unavailable. Is this true? Should I wait?
Would have loved to stay in Vieste but it's too far for us to drive down to Bari to fly out. We like old historical towns with a bit of life at night and nice restaurants which both seem to have. Something not to overwhelming as mindful of the kids and their stamina as we are packing a lot in (maybe too much).
