Getting to Florence from St Margherita

Hi

Just wondering the best way of getting to Florence from here? Drive or train?

Thanks!

It is not a good idea to drive into Florence: most of the centre is prohibited to visitors' cars but it is easy to drive into this area by accident and get hit with €100 fines months later. If you do drive, it is some 200 km on autostrada, which is hardly relaxing.

On the other hand, trains take 3 to 4 hours with a change at Pisa and, for some journeys, also at Rapallo.

It really is your choice.

For train times see http://trenitalia.it/homepage_en.html entering a date before June 12 when timetables change, and a date within the next seven days to see fares on journeys by Regional trains only (these fares are not posted any further in advance).

I strongly agree with Sydneynick's warning about driving into Florence.
