Getting from Formia train station to Gaeta

I am considering renting a house in Gaeta for a few days. We will be traveling from Rome Termini. How would one get from the Formia train station to Gaeta. Another poster pointed out that it is 4.5 miles. Is there public transit from Formia to Gaeta? Does one rely on taxi? Pre-arranged transfers?

Thanks

After you arrive at the station in Formia, go to the main lobby where the ticket booth/ agent is located. To the right hand side facing the ticket booth, there is a news stand. You can purchase a ticket at this location for the local bus going to Gaeta. Local buses depart from the area just outside the train station lobby to your left.

If you are traveling with a lot of luggage, you may want to consider a taxi. But, a taxi can be expensive even though the distance from the train station to Gaeta is not great. I have walked to Gaeta from Via Vitruvio (Formia's main street) which is only three blocks from the train station. It is about 4000 meters. ( 2.5 miles) The bus will cost, as I recall, one Euro. Bus transportation, both local and regional is a good way to get around cheaply and you can get to any place you want to go.

You appear not to have done any research for the Italian trip you took and seem surprised by everything that went wrong for you. Other people do not find Gaeta any more "isolated" than any other Italian town without a train station dead in the center of town. They look at the current bus schedule before they go and plan accordingly. .
