Getting a cab in Pompeii to Cantina del Vesuvio?

Getting a cab in Pompeii to Cantina del Vesuvio?

We are going to take the train from Sorrento to Pompeii for the day, and for lunch we would like to go to Cantina del Vesuvio, a winery in the area (10-15 min drive). We would need a ride from Pompeii to the winery, and then back to Pompeii afterwards. I have contacted some car services for the price of the ride to and from the winery, and they all quote 100-200 euros which I just find to be ridiculous for a 10 minute car ride. Are there any cabs in Pompeii or any companies we could call to get a ride for a reasonable price?

Did you check transferelax or sorrentocars?

I think the price for a round trip will be around 100 euros and according the prices in this area it is not expensive.

Consider also that the driver will wait for you there.

A couple of thoughts and one warning. First, it's more than a ten minute ride. While it's only a little over five miles it can easily take nearly a half hour to make the trip. Second, this is a fairly rural area so cabs are not a usual means of conveyance, if you take one there and another one back you'd be paying for round trip fares on both ends, as neither driver would be able to pick up another fare at the end of the first segment.

The warning is about Pompei, you don't have in-and-out privileges with your ticket so if your plan is to return to the ruins after lunch you'd need to buy a second ticket.

Best to eat at the ruins in that case, the cafe is good.

Try to contact directly Cantina del Vesuvio to ask them if they have a solution for yo...

(Anyway, return to visit the ruins after a lunch with 4 glasses of wine and a shot of grappa it is not realistic :D)
