Day trip to Capri from Positano

Hi there -

I am trying to get a rough plan for a day trip to Capri from our base in Positano. We will be traveling to Positano from 07/8 - 07/12.

A few of the things we would like to see in Capri are:

- Blue Grotto

- lunch @ la fontelina

- boat tour around island (cost effective and as private as possible?)

- chair lift

- wander Anacapri

Can anyone tell me if this is feasible in one day? And if so, what is the best plan to make it happen?

Thank you!

The earliest ferry of the day gets you there a little after 10 AM and the last returning ferry departs at 6 PM, so that provides some parameters. (You could get there earlier by going to Sorrento and taking a ferry from there, the first bus of the day would allow you to take the 8:30 ferry, arriving a little before 9 AM).

I think you can do it all in one day if you stay focused, but that kind of defeats the whole casual vibe of Capri.

Nevertheless, if you want to plug away I would start with Anacapri first and work your way back toward the port.

Thank you! I read Anacapri is more residential? Where is the more posh area of Capri? We would like to wander that area/window shop. I definitely do want to strike a balance of exploration and relaxation. Does anything require advanced booking?

Posh area of Capri is the centre town of Capri, from the Piazzetta to Quisisana hotel and via Camerelle.

If you decide to go to La Fontelina, definitely make a reservation, especially for July which is peak season.

nshein - is reserving lunch @ La Fontelina something we can wait to do once we arrive to Positano, and have our concierge handle the booking?

You will probably be fine but it seemed like it booked up at least 3-4 days in advance when we were there the second week of July last summer, particularly for the first seating.
