New Year in Calpe

We come to Calpe every year in the Summer and love it. We are considering coming for a week from 30/12/16, is it warm, are there enough restaurants and shops open and can we go on the beach, not expecting it to be like summer but warm enough to sit and relax and have a paddle?

Thanks in advance

Hi Travelgirl,

The answer's "yes" to all your questions. We've been spending Dec/Jan in Calpe for some time and all of our favourite restaurants and bars are open as usual, as are the shops. I should say that we're in the centre of town and La Fossa/Levante may be quieter. It might be worth checking with your favourite haunts to see whether they have special New Year dinner events.

The weather is generally excellent. Normally, the poolside and beach are VERY comfortable in the day time - and people do swim - while long trousers/jackets would be better in the evenings. Sometimes I think that if this weather lasted all year it would suit me fine!

There are obviously fewer visitors around, but for New Year and Los Reyes the town is certainly busy. Go for it!

Hope this helps,

Harry.
