Suggestions for activities for our son

Hi,

Due to visit later this month for the weekend with our 10 year old son.

Tour of the Nou Camp is his main priority.

He is not a zoo or museum type of kid, so would be grateful for any other suggestion of things we could consider doing?

Many thanks

There is an amazing theme park outside of Barcelona called Port Aventura that I am sure that he would love.

Also, the Wax Museum in the Rambla in the city is a cool choice, even for someone that doesn't like museums. Its pretty creepy and awesome at the same time.

Tibidabo funfair on Tibidabo hill (Barcelona's backdrop) is open Sat and Sundays noon to 7pm this month (till 8pm on 31st after the hour changes) http://www.tibidabo.cat/en/homepage Much simpler to get to than Port Aventura and gives you spectacular views over the city.

Parc Güell is a must for everyone visiting Barcelona in my view and kids generally love it.

There's also the aquarium in the inner harbour (Port Vell). Ciutadella Park is in the same area. Walk round the Old Town, see if you can discover the bits of the Roman Wall......

Does he like chocolate? Take him for some churros con chocolate at La Granja on C/ Banys. You purchase the churros at the Xurreria up the street before going in, or as we did, send someone out once you're seated so they're fresher when your chocolate comes. This would also fit into Lynda's suggestion of walking in the old town and finding bits of Roman walls since there's an actual section of Roman wall a the rear of the dining room.

You could also drop by a Bazar Chino (dollar store), purchase a couple of ping-pong paddles and ball, and go play on the concrete ping-pong tables in Parc de la Ciutadella. It's about the cheapest most fun activity you can do in Barcelona.

A trip to the park Park de la Ciudadella as it is like from a fantasy, especially where the fountain is located.

Oops, that should read La Granja on C/ Banys Nous. Note that many granjas are not open during lunch and dinner hours, but in between since they serve snacks and sweets.

there are ping-pong tables in Joan Miró park too, and other play options for 10 year old also. It's next to the old bullring which is now a small shopping centre (with great views from the roof, you walk all the way round.)

The ping-pong tables are at the end of the park near Aragó street (beyond the fire station as you come out of Tarragona metro station).

There's a Chineses "bazaar" just beyond there, on Aragó near Entença.

You can also visit "El Rei de la Magia". It is a magician's shop but they also have a nearby museum (he has to like that one ;-). On Fridays Saturdays and Sundays they organise magic shows (only in Catalan/Spanish).
