Dressing for Spain

Wife and I will be on a tour of Spain in different locations for a week.

I'm used to wearing shorts, tennis shoes, and a nice shirt here in Texas during the day.

Just want to check and see if this is okay. Don't want to offend anyone but I want to be comfortable.

I know it seems like a stupid question but want to check.

Providing you are here in summer then you are fine. In winter you'll need warmer clothing.

If you plan to see any churches:

Dress code for churches: Shorts or bare shoulders are not allowed for either women or men.

The idea that Spain has fashion police has been dis-proven, even the idea that there is a dress code for churches (as in post 4) has been dis-proven.

nights are cooler so take some extra clothing (yesterday min temp in Salamanca was just 7ºC so early in the morning and after sunset it is cold).

Just got back after a week in Toledo, Valladolid, Salemanca, and Madrid.

We enjoyed everything and will definitely return to Spain.

Only thing, just can't eat late.

My wife and I currently live in Spain.

While most churches will not stop you from entering with shorts or bare shoulders, it is definitely not respectful to do so.
