I would like to to warn all my fellow travelers against Fraudsters that are operating as Spain Villas Rental advertising Villas for rent in Ibiza & Mallorca. They change their email address regularly and we believe the IP address is coming from India but the latest is https://spainvillas-rental.com/. I was travelling with 4 of my friends and we booked with these people back in March, for a September stay, Villa Banderas https://spainvillas-rental.com/property/villa-banderas/ for 4 nights which turns out to be owned by a German Villa owner with no idea their Villa is fraudulently being advertised. 5 Intelligent worldly Women were tricked by what looks like a very slick operation. We lost €1900 of our hard earned money. Along with losing our money, and the stress of trying to find somewhere else to stay it of course set our mini girls break off to a horrendous start. We have learnt the hard way but we were extremely lucky to run into Suzy from Ibiza Holiday Villas who helped us find somewhere to stay through her network of fellow Villa Managers and we found Villa Can Prats managed by Javier and Mannon who were so lovely to us. They were so apologetic about our plight as this type of fraud affects their business as it potentially drives business away from the beautiful Island of Ibiza. They guided us to the civil police so we could report the crime. They have also experienced fraud from their side where people have arrived to book villas with stolen credit cards. The following tips were given to us by them. When you find a Villa also check they are advertised on other sites such as Booking.com, Expedia, Airbnb as a commission must be paid to be on these sites it is more likely to be a legitimate business. Also if it looks to good to be true it probable is, check the prices of similar Villas in the area you are looking at to get a good benchmark of prices. Only pay by credit card, not wire Transfer like we did even though it was through "TransferWise" a legitimate on line transfer money company, ( we have informed them of this fraud and they have said they have closed the Fraudsters account) we still have no protection to get our money back as you would if you use a credit card. If a legitimate Company, a deposit will generally be taken by Credit card to hold the booking but also to prove to the Villa Owner/Manager that the people booking are also legitimate and the card is not stolen and ensure against any damages to the villa during the stay. Always ring the number on the Villa website, we did not and it was only whilst standing outside the Villa we thought we had booked that we found out the numbers did not work and when we were going to drive to their office the address they gave was only a road, no office. In this age of Technology we tend to do everything over email as we did and the fact we received a contract everything seemed above board. The Fraudsters had also said we would receive an email before our arrival with the name of the person that would meet us which we also overlooked. Regardless pick up the phone and ring the number on the website. I really hope by spreading our story we prevent someone else from experiencing what we did.
