Transferring at Charles De Gaulle

Hi, we are trying a new route to our home in france and flying with Cathay Pacific to Paris CDG (T2a)and then getting a connecting Air France flight from CDG to Bordeaux(T2f) 2 1/2 hours later.

Does anyone know if it’s possible to check the luggage straight through to Bordeaux?

We have two small children so hand luggage only is not an option unfortunately.

Any advice on luggage or the general transfer process much appreciated.

If the flights are on one ticket, your luggage will be checked through to Bordeaux and you will not see it in Paris. If there are two separate tickets, you will need to collect your luggage in Paris and do a new check-in for the second flight.

In either case, you will go through Schengen Immigration (Passport Control) in Paris.

We seem to get an endless number of CDG connection questions and invariably, the critical fact is not mentioned - are you using a single ticket, one PNR, or are you traveling on two distinctly separate tickets?

In your situation, I would strongly suggest you do not attempt to travel on separate tickets. It will complicate your itinerary enormously. Travel only on a single ticket to Bordeaux in which case your bags will be checked through to your final destination and any connecting problems or concerns will be resolved by the air carrier.
