Sept trip report in short

Hello TA community,

This is my first ever trip report not sure if just facts or long narrative is preferred, so I’ll start with overview. Daily detailed report, with reviews, to follow soon if interested.

First trip to Ireland: Sept 2018. 16 days total: 2 travel, 14 days in Ireland

Weather: 2 days sunshine, 2 days rain, generally- very high winds, heavy clouds, misty drizzle daily

American Air--- good flights arrive- Dublin; Depart -Shannon

Dublin transport—Aircoach to Kildare St. Short 3 blocks walk to hotel

Car rental: Dan Dooley (now Enterprise) Opal- Karl manual. Easy pick up Dublin. Return Shannon- park and drop key at desk. Final bill not in yet- fingers crossed for no drama

Route/ Sleep: Dublin- 2 days great city- all usual activities / Trinity Lodge

Day 3 -Newgrange, Glenariff Forest Park, Cushenden, Causeway Coast drive, Ballycastle, Bushmills / Portcaman House B&B

Day 4 -Giants Causeway, Derry. Letterkenny—dinner with extended family / Bridgeburn House

Day 5- Creeslough area- family history & homestead; Dunfanaghy- north coast drive/ Bridgeburn House

Day 6- Glenveagh castle, family visit/ Mt Errigal Hotel

Day 7- Glengesh pass to Slieve League, Donegal, Ben Bulben, Glencar Lake & waterfall/ Cawley’s Guest House- Tobercurry

Day 8- Achill Island to Newport greenway bike ride, wander Westport / Quay West B&B

Day 9- Westport: Croag Patrick, hide from rain, laundry/ Boley Patrick self catering

Day 10- Westport : Doo Lough valley, Killary harbor, Aasleagh falls Loop to--Museum of Country Life / Boley Patrick self catering

Day 11- Kylemore Abbey, Hike Conemarra park, Sky Road, Clifden, Lough Corrig/ Corrig Wave House, Oughterand

Day 12- Galway- Salthill, Promenade, explore city, Silver strand beach/ Lynburg B&B

Day 13-The Burren, Dunguaire castle, Ballyvaugn, Cliffs of Moher/ Lahinch Golf & Leisure hotel

Day 14- Ennis: Friary, sculpture walk, Newmarket on Fergus, Mooghaun Hill Fort/ Airport Park Hotel

Best Eats: The Old Storehouse, Temple Bar, Dublin – Ballad singer w/ acoustic guitar; Tea at The Causeway Hotel, Bushmills; Yellow Pepper, Letterkenny; Huckleberry Coffee shop, Creeslough; Lizzie’s Diner, Dunfanaghy; Marina’s Café, Donegal town; Cawley’s, Tobercurry; Kelly’s Café, Newport; Coast Bistro, Westport; O’Malley’s, Clifden ; Quay side Kitchen, Galway city; O’Reilly’s, Salthill, Galway; Dinner at Lahinch Hotel
