Scottish Art in Edinburgh

I am interested in seeing Scottish art -- either in museums or in galleries -- when I visit Edinburgh for a 2-day stay. Suggestions, please.

You should definitely visit the National Gallery of Scotland (on The Mound, Edinburgh). The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art (Belford Road, Edinburgh) is also well worth a visit. Unfortunately the Scottish National Portrait Gallery (Queen Street) is closed until 2011 for refurbishment.

For more contemporary art have a look at the City art centre edinburgh.gov.uk/internet/Leisure/Museums_an…

or the Fruitmarket gallery across the road from it http://fruitmarket.co.uk/

The Talbot Rice Gallery (of the University of Edinburgh) often has some interesting exhibitions. It is located within Old College, at the junction of South Bridge and Chambers Street. See: www.trg.ed.ac.uk
