Snowdonia tomorrow!

Hi, coming to wales first time tomorrow with 3 kids for 2days only , one for beach and one for mountains.

Couple of questions, which is better beach? Llandudno or Conwy? And for Snowdonia, read that Betws-y-coed is great location. Do we just go to falls or any other recommmendation.

Can’t go to any attractions, as all zoo world etc fully booked already so plan to just chill in area but need to know where to spend all day

Many thanks

Where are you staying?

Good beach at Rhos on Sea / Colwyn Bay at Porth Eirias

LL29 8HH

plenty of parking lots of sand good views and a quiet resort, some water activities at Colwyn Bay Watersports

Llandudno beach near the Esplanade imho is not quite as good but probably more to do there for your kids

A better beach out at the West Shore side of Llandudno

Very nice expansive beach just west of Conwy out to the Marina Aberconwy

There is the Welsh Mountain Zoo at Colwyn Bay

Surf Snowdonia between Conwy and Betws y Coed

If you do drive into the hills Betws y Coed to Capel Curig and the Ogwen Valley is a nice run

That is so helpful. We are staying near Maenan, Llanrwst.

If you want to walk on the hills, and not difficult if the kids are small, then you can park on the old pass above Conwy and walk to the right of the road on Conwy Mountain with good sea views and sometimes ponies, or you can walk on the Orme.

For something slightly more adventurous and quieter you can drive up to lakes (Crafnant and one beginning with G) to the west of Llanwrst and there are places to walk round the lakes and picnic if its fine.

If you want the more dramatic scenery, then as Leuca says, head up to Snowdon.

The Swallow Falls at Betws might be a bit of a disappontment during this dry spell

The Sychnant Pass mentioned in the earlier post is a great suggestion

You will get the impression of being up in the hills and it’s easy drive by car so not much climbing it’s a lovely drive too and you can pass through Fairy Glen

Some great views over to Anglesey

Just to add a bit to the Sychnant Pass suggestion.

The quickest way to get there is to go through the Conwy tunnel and stay on the A55 through another tunnel, and then turn off through Dwygyfylchi and approach the pass from the western side. The parking place is just before the road goes into a wooded area. There is another large car-park the other side of the woods, but you want the first one. And Conwy Mountain is to your left, of course, if you come this way up.

While you're there, walk back down the road about thirty metres to Echo Rock. There's a sort of hollow in the rock face at the side of the road, and another large one the other side of the valley. Between them they produce an excellent echo.
