You can pay for the castle dungeons once inside the castle if you have yet to decide whether you want to go round, but you cannot do the dungeons without paying to go into the castle first.

I hope that helps.

The cheapest thing to do is buy your tickets for all of it online before you go if you can. If you want any more info let me know I know the Castle very very well!

Are the Dungeons and Dragon Tower just aimed at kids ? We have a 2 for 1 voucher, so not sure if it covers all the sections and if we should see them.

the castle has a genuine dungeon which is part of the ticket price - this is scary enough if you have any imagination, particularly the "oubliette". there is also a "London Dungeon" type exhibit where 3rd rate drama students dress up to look ghoulish and relate historically-dubious tales of torture instruments and punishments. Fine for kids, but a bit of a yawn for grown-ups, unless you are a fan of that sort of thing.

The Dragon Tower is aimed at families really. It's based on the Merlin TV programme. 2 for 1 tickets work on all tickets bought together, so if you wanted to go to the Dragon Tower or Dungeon you'd have to buy a combination ticket to get the 2 for 1. You can get just Castle entry, either the Dungeon or Dragon or all of it. If you buy separately you'll pay more.

The Dungeon employs professional actors and there's nothing in there that isn't based on history actually.

Just read the original message the Dungeon is not aimed at children. It's not actually recommended for children under 10. It depends on your constitution but it's quite scary in there especially with the new witch show. There are a few laughs too.
