Restaurant Suggestions Tower Bridge area

Spending a weekend in February celebrating my wife's birthday based in the Novotel - Tower Bridge. I knew before I booked that the area is very quiet (closed) at night but after some research I have found the following restaurants from which I have to choose 3. (Taking into account some close on Sunday.)

Lightship - St Katherine's Dock.

Cafe Spice

Smollensky's Bar & Grill - Wapping

Bankside

Butler's Wharf Chop House

Cantina del Ponte

Il Bordello - Wapping

Kenza - Devonshire Square

Any views on these or alternative suggestions?

Your help to make my wife's weekend enjoyable would be greatly appreciated!

Tony,

I'm sure there will be plenty of people to offer their individual experiences but in the meantime have you looked for reviews at the three main London restaurant sites?

http://www.london-eating.co.uk/

http://www.squaremeal.co.uk/

http://www.toptable.co.uk/

Time Out is also good for reviews.

Within the City Walls try:

Brasserie de Malmaison, 18-21 Charterhouse Square, high prices, high quality, great location

Bevis Marks Restaurant on Bevis Marks (walkable from the Tower) - stylish kosher venue next to the synagogue of the same name.

If you go south on Tower Bridge, turn right, and there are several restaurants right on the water, a very nice French Restaurant, Italian Chain called Ask, and a few more. There is also a Zitti close by, and if turn left instead of right, you walk down along the water and you will hit several restaurants, including Strada, a Thai Restaurant, and a few more. The area is very nice.

If you like your steaks there's a Gaucho near Tower Bridge. Not been to that one myself but the Westferry branch is great.

Aswell as the other websites try

http://www.timeout.com/london/restaurants/

You can filter by location cuisine etc.

Don't be afraid to hop on a tube or bus to search further afield for a terrific place. Richard Corrigan's Lindsay House in Soho is the only 'big name' place I've been to but it really is something else.

A cab back afterwards shouldn't be more than a tenner or so.

Have a great weekend.

For a Sunday roast dinner you're also a two-minute walk from the "Liberty Bounds" Wetherspoons pub which has a great view of the Tower from the top floor. I'd also prefer that to the Pepys bar in the Novotel.

It's at 15 Trinity Square, map here:

Le Pont De La Tour is another possibility - food is quite good there too.

To reach it, go from the Tower of London across Tower Bridge to the other side. There's a set of steps to the left at the end of the bridge. They'll take you down to a relatively new restaurant/shops type development along the embankment. Pont is one of those restaurants. I've heard good reports about it.
