Mega bus or Big bus?

Hello 👋

Can someone please explain the difference between these two companies? Mega bus is charging a pound for a tour where big bus are charging over 30 pounds. I’m a little bit confused 😐

Megabus take you all around London in a few hours, but do not stop at the attractions and you do the tour once, which for many is enough if they only have a few days. Big Bus were voted the "best" hop-on hop off London bus tour company. The services are frequent and stop at the best attractions, give maps and you can listen to a guided tour with ear phones. Stop where you like and lasts 24 hours. There is a huge difference in the price.

Megabus are the cheap-and-cheerful option. A two-hour tour with a recorded commentary, no stops, no frills.

Big Bus offers a hop-on-hop-off facility over 24 hours and bundles in all kinds of extra goodies, but you pay for them.

Something else to bear in mind... Megabus does one pick up so you're guaranteed a seat

The other tour companies rely on as many people getting off at each stop than get on - you can end up waiting a long time for a bus with space

The mega bus tour can be good to scout out attractions as you go round for a more in depth visit later in your trip.

As other's have said Big Bus can get a bit chaotic, and there have been negative reviews on TA regarding this, their stops not being properly marked, staff being rude etc. But one of their routes has a "live" guide as opposed to a recording, which you may prefer.

Megabus and its parent company Stagecoach have a longstanding history of aggressively hammering the competition on any routes/services they want to muscle-in on and take over. I can remember them back to the days when their Chairman and principal shareholder actually worked the buses!

Running their own or often unmarked buses operated by a "contractor" on the same route and offering prices that are a tiny fraction of the established operators is absolutely their MO.

Of course, once they have driven-out the established operators, they then cherry-pick the most profitable services, drop the rest and push the prices much higher - Whilst offering the illusion of cheapness with "special fares" that nobody ever seems to be able to get.

In-short, predators, avoid!!
