Nice hotel one night

I have been unwell all year and at long last have a consultants appointment at the Walton Clinic Liverpool. as I live in South Wales we need an overnight stay one night next week, the journey takes 6 hours so thank you NHS Wales, who took 6 months to tell me they no longer had a suitable specialist! And making me travel to Liverpool for an hour long appointment!

We will be travelling from Lime street station and I have provisionally booked the Adelphi as I know the name, however after reading the reviews will cancel. We just want to have somewhere nice to sleep after having an evening meal.

Any suggestions for a reasonable priced hotel and a nice restaraunt close to Lime Street

Forget the Adelphi hotel

there's far better hotels both in Liverpool city centre and the surrounding area

Try the Premier Inn on Hanover Street. There's lots of small independant restaurants close by.

P.S. what sort of food do you like like? I've heard good things about Amalia Italian Restaurant which is around the corner from the Premier Inn.

Liner is a good choice - turn right out of the station side entrance onto Lord Nelson Street and it's up the hill

Coming out of the station you will see the stage door of the Empire Theatre and a pub called Ma Egertons. They do food, but it's mainly pizza and meat/cheese boards. Many famous actors, actresses, singers, dancers, comedians etc have been to this pub, probably because it's opposite the stage door of the Empire!

There is also a Wetherspoons at Lime Street station called The North Western. The interior is very impressive because it's in the old North Western hotel.

There are a few Indian restaurants on Renshaw Street which is on the other side of the Adelphi Hotel (which you will be grateful that you didn't stay at!).
