coach trips from Bournemouth to Cornawall

Hi there. We will be visiting Bournemouth from Canada next May (2019), and are hoping to find a day coach trip from Bournemouth to Cornwall, especially to Penzance and St Michael's mount....any info would be greatly appreciated. We won't have a car....thanks in advance.

I think you are going to be disappointed. The journey time from Bournemouth to Penzance by road is about four hours each way assuming no hold ups. That would leave little or no time for sightseeing. I looked at a couple of coach tour operators but none has Cornwall in their day trip schedules.

Sadly, you underestimate the time it will take to get from Bournemouth to Cornwall and back by road. There are no day trips by coach and, while it may theoretically be possible to get to Cornwall and back in a day by train (I haven't checked), there's no direct rail line to the west and you'll spend all the day travelling. As an idea of how far you can travel from Bournemouth in a day on a coach excursion and have some time to spend at your destination to enjoy it, try this link:

Thank you for the information.....we may have to arrive earlier or extend our time in London, and try to find a short 4-5 day coach tour of Cornwall/Devon from there.........the day trips from Bournemouth look interesting, so we may be able to book a couple of those while we're in Bournemouth. Best regards, Maureen.

In which case you need a minimum of 2 days. I haven't been to Penzance but Bournemouth to Penzance by public transport will take a long time. You need half a day to cover St.Michael's Mount and the bird hide in Marazion (if you like Ornithology & if the hide is still there.

In response to comment #1: Bournemouth to Penzance is more like 5 - 6 hours, so really not a doable day trip.

Agree with all others that Devon and Cornwall alone require at least 3 - 5 days each to appreciate.

To put it into a Canadian perspective: just imagine yourself in Vancouver. Would you contemplate a day trip to the Icefields Parkway?

Thank you so much for the info...for sure from Vancouver to the Parkway ice fields is about 610 miles....not a day trip....we will look at coach tours of 5-6 days each for Cornwall and Devon...best regards...maureen
