Hotels for January

Hello, looking for a good hotel for a break in January. Know the weather won't be the best but any info on good hotels will be great. Thanks

Not everyone's cup of tea but you could look at Premier Inn, it would give you a good base, and good value room. Just an idea.

One thing Torquay is not short of is hotels. Some of the smaller places will close in January but even at that time of year there will be hotels available to suit all tastes and budgets. So what sort of place are you looking for?

I can also recommend the Marstan down towards Meadfoot Beach. The Osborne is in a listed Regency crescent and has sea views to die for but might be over-budget (then again, in January it might not).

The TLH Resort hotels are worth looking at if you want more facilities and entertainment, whilst Belgrave Sands (the old Kistor as was) has a spa.

If you are looking for more boutique B&B style accommodation, The 25 on Avenue Road (no. 25, funnily enough) is the one that is raising the bar.

The weather might surprise you - Torquay is a year-round resort and started out as a Winter retreat because of its mild climate.

Just out of curiosity - which hotel have you seen?

The Imperial's not bad, it's a big hotel but if you get a sea view room the views are stunning. You haven't got far to walk to the Harbour and you can continue along the seafront if you get a nice sunny day - I've had some lovely January days in Torquay. If the weather is in your favour and you feel energetic (Torquay is hilly, I should warn you!) then walk along the coast path and along past Daddyhole Plain to the beautiful Meadfoot Beach.

If you are going to eat out I recommend you check restaurants ahead of time, as many Torquay businesses close up for a couple of weeks in January/February and their owners head off to the Caribbean or The Canaries. However there will still be plenty of choices.
