Driving/Parking in Port Isaac

Our hire car is a little larger than we thought-Mitsubishi ASX small SUV. Will there be problems driving it and parking in Port Isaac? Should we just park up and walk?

Are you staying there? If so, ask the accommodation provider if there is allocated parking. If not then it is not advisable to drive into Port Isaac. Park in the car park at the top of the hill, walk and enjoy the views.

Are you talking about the Main Car Park or the St. Endellion Car Park? I suspect you mean the former....I just want to clarify as we're going to have to make the same decision soon.

The main carpark. Just don't try to drive in Port Isaac.

Thanks, Kernewes. We will stick with the Main car park.

Unless your holiday rental comes with parking i would park in the pay and display carpark at the top of the hill and walk down into Port Isaac itself. Its a pleasant 5-10 mins walk and the coastal path is gentler than the walk through the village for the way back. Port Isaac itself is lovely but has extremely narrow roads (check out Squeezy Belly Alley!) So driving is "entertaining" and parking tricky (unless you are happy to leave the car on the platt at low tide (but check tide times!)

Hi,

There are two car parks. The one at the top (first one you get to) which is quite a walk and another further down (drive in and turn right junction where it's just over on the left). The latter car park gets really full though so if you are arriving anytime after 10:30, you will probably only find space at the top.

Don't drive into the village itself as it's a nightmare. There is a shuttle (for a few pounds) from the top if the walk is a struggle.

Good luck

It is unlikely that you will get a parking space in the car park down by the sea after about 10 am. If you use the car park on the edge of the town be careful where you park when it is full. The car park operators are using entrapment to issue £100 fines for parking on the grass. Unfortunately their definition of what is grass is actually scrubby weeds and rubbish. Complaining to the local council got no response. I wouldn't go there again
