Quality Traditional Sunday Lunch within 20 miles of Chester?

We are looking for somewhere special for a birthday Sunday Lunch. It has to be an old traditional British Roast , lamb beef or pork!!

It does not have to be formal but the food quality must be excellent.

Does anyone know anywhere that would provide a memorable birthday celebration?

Many Thanks

Hi,

Special venue, but a bit further within Cheshire.

Any of the Brunning and Price pubs around the area. I would particularly recommend the Pant Yr Ochain near Gresford, North Wales.

Tunnel Top though pleasant is probably not in the bracket that OP is looking for. Good for a Sunday Lunch but Op seems to be looking for a venue with that little bit extra too.

The Golden Pheasant at PLumley may fit the bill. Had a family lunchtime celebration there a week before Christmas one year but didn't want the Christmas menu. They were very obliging and food , including roasts, was excellent. Lovely old inn with log fire in winter.

I would definitely recommend the Glynne Arms in Hawarden. The only other good shout on this thread is the Pant Yr Ochain.

I believe the Glynne Arms is owned by the Hawarden Estate/Farm Shop so the food should be fab! Haven't been there yet but it is on the list. Hawarden has a pretty High Street too, not sure where you would park...

Yes it is owned by the Hawarden estate, if you are coming from Chester take a left just before getting to the pub, large free car park on the left, only a one minute walk away. Alternatively, they do have a small car park at the Glynne.
