Day trips from Warrington, Cheshire

We will be staying in Warrington for 16 days and would like to do some day trips. Have been thinking of Liverpool, Chester, Manchester, and would like to go to Wales. Any suggestions appreciated for those and other places. We would probably be travelling by train unless there are day trips anyone knows of. Thanks so much

There are 2 railway stations in Warrington, Warrington Bank Quay is on the mainline going north south and Warrington Central mInline east west.

From Bank Quay you could make a day trip to London, or go to Penrith and then bus to Keswick in the Lake District.

From Central you could do Manchester, York, Liverpool, Chester, Conwy (Wales)

Plenty of other places would be available but those are some that come to mind straightaway. You may also find a local coach firm that does day trip. Are you staying with family or friends, if yes they may be able to give you more suggestions.

Sorry I think Conwy is from Bank Quay via Chester.

I'd not realised just how well connected Warrington is by train.

You can catch an Arriva train to Chester from Warrington Bank Quay, very doable as a day trip. Lots to see...

How many is "we"? If it's two of you you could buy the Two Together railcard which costs £30 but gives 1/3 off train tickets.

You can check times and fares here: www.nationalrail.co.uk
