Field/Golden accommodation

Hi, We are a couple travelling to the canadian rockies for two weeks, we will stay three nignts in Banff, three nights in Jasper and another three nights in Field/Golden to visit Yoho, Glaciar and Kootenay parks. This is the itinerary:

Day one: Travel from Jasper to Field / Golden (see Emerald, Natural Bridge, Hoodoos, ...) Night in Field /Golden

Day 2: Iceline trail Night in Field /Golden

Day 3: Lake Ohara (in the afternoon we can go to Revelstoke / Glaciar) Night in Field /Golden

Day 4: See Kootenay and sleep in Banff/Canmore

In Field and Golden we have three accommodations available:

- Yoho Guesthouse - Field (two room suite): 165 CAD

- Wildflower Guesthouse - Field: 150 CAD

- Canyon Ridge Lodge - Field (Purcell suite 120 CAD)

I like Canyon Ridge Lodge, is cheaper, number 1 in TA, new, ... But I think Field is in a better situation. Any advice?

Thanks for your help

Regarding Lake O'Hara - this is a controlled access area and if you go to all the bother of getting reservations on the bus, you will want to spend the whole day there. Information on Lake O'Hara and how to make a reservation (you need to phone three months in advance) is here:

I would plan a separate day for touring to Revelstoke and Glacier NP from Field - the drive is beautiful, and there are many places to stop. We really enjoyed the Railway Museum in Revy; we took about 2 hours to go through it (could have spent longer, but had a six hour drive home to Jasper ahead of us). This section of your holiday (Field - Roger's Pass - Revelstoke (Craigellachie - "The Last Spike") is the epicentre of Canadian railway history (which is tied to the forming of Canada as a nation), so if history or trains interest you, you could make a thematic day of it: the Spiral Tunnels, Roger's Pass National Historic Site, Loop Brook (short hike, including part of the original rail bed), the Railway Museum, Craigellachie.

Be aware that Field is a very small village - there is only one restaurant there, and another nearby at Emerald Lake Lodge. Other dining options can be found in Lake Louise (about 20 minutes' drive away) or Banff (about an hour away)

Canyon Ridge Lodge is in Golden, not in the town of Field.
