Myoga restaurant

Hi,

I am trying to finalize some of our dinner reservations while in Cape Town, and am interested in booking dinner at Myoga due to their 7 course 'Tasting Meal' menu for R225.

Is this tasting meal a year round menu or is it only for a limited time?

Also, it looks like the restaurant is a bit far from Cape Town city center - how much approximately would taxi cost? And is it worth the trek? Or should we just find somewhere closer to eat?

Thanks!

Hi marcia

The Myoga seven course menu is permanent. There are at least 5 choices for each course and new dishes are introduced frequently. No issues, whatever your food preferences are and they will always alter dishes if there is any ingredient that you don't like. Not sure when you are coming but the R225 is a high season price and during the winter (after Easter) the price will very probably be lower.

The food is consistently good and it is one of the first places that we take visitors to in Cape Town. We have been there four times since the beginining of December. I have never taken anyone who has been anything but bowled over! Just remember that the courses start small but get bigger as you go along. The deserts are as big as most three course menus, so pace yourself!

Newlands is close to the city - 10-15 mins by taxi depending where you are staying. 10-11km, so less than R100 using a taxi company like Excite. Definitely not a "trek"!

Try and get there reasonably early during daylight. The Vineyard has lovely gardens and magificent views over the flank of Table Mountain. Ask for a mountain facing window table when you book.
