Ao-Num Mao Long Tail Boats They leave you stranded

We walked over from Rayavadee to Railay beach to get a long tail boat over to Ao Nang just to get a few last minute souvenirs, bought a return ticket, did our shopping, sat at the boat "station" in the blazing heat for nearly 2 hours waiting for one of their boats,it never came and eventually we ended up paying a fortune to get another boat to take just the 2 of us back.,they shouldn't sell return tickets if they have no intention of picking you up.The boat company at Ao Nang say they do it all the time, what a rip off so beware if you stay at Railay beach, just buy a one way ticket and be prepared to pay someone else to bring you back

Hi Chrissy,

Why is the title of your post Ao-Mum Mao Long Tail Boats when you went to Ao Nang?

Also, can you advise the timings of your trips?

Hmmm... strange... which part of Railay were you? In this case, Ao Nammao Longtail Boats should only be operational between the Railay East and Ao Nammao Pier. Did they operate from Railay West to Ao Nang as well on the day of your trip?

The kiosk was by walking street ,I could be wrong but I think this was called Railey West beach?,it is not the muddy beach where the sea tractors are used and it is not the cave beach at Rayavadee. The boat company at Ao Nang would have nothing to do with it and refused to take us back unless we bought another ticket from them and they didnt have any boats leaving soon so in the end someone just offered to take us for 500 bht straight away and we gave in as we had just had enough after waiting all that time

Thanks for the information. Sorry that you met with this incident. This Ao Nammao Longtail Boat should be avoided then, at least for the journey between Railay and Ao Nang. I am thinking that they could have gone over to Railay East to service that part of the line after dropping you guys off.

For other TA members, do use Ao Nang Longtail Boat Service Club instead. They are the one located at the bend of the road leading into Golden Beach Resort. Boats leave frequently from there.
