Railay on a Budget

Hi All,

We are travelling to Railay Bay in November as part of some backpacking we are doing throughout Asia. Coincidently, there are 6 friends on a week long holiday staying at Railay Bay Resort and Spa at the same time.

We are looking to stay nearby so we can spend time together but due to our budget we can't afford to stay at the resort with them.

I have heard the East Beach of Railay is the cheaper option but am finding it difficult to find places there that would still be close to the West side where are friends are staying. (How far is it from the East side to the West? Is it feasible to walk the distance?)

Any help or recommendations would be appreciated!

Thanks

Definitely walkable and should take no more than 15 minutes so do not worry. :)

Have stayed on both, you can literally run from one to the other in 90 seconds. Its about a 3-5 minute stroll. I have stayed in resorts bigger than the whole Railay peninsular, so staying on the East beach is not a problem at all! You will find you will likely all eat over there anyway, and you can nip back to your hotel in 5 minutes from eithe side. I prefer the East side to the west side. The west side is.... very pretty but very expensive. The west side is more like Thailand...cheap amazing food, great atmosphere etc.
