Money Exchange

Can anyone recommend the best place to get AUD exchanged for IDR? I only know people that have been to Bali and they all say not to exchange at the airport, but to do it at the money changers in Bali because of better rates. Is it the same for Lombok? (I will be staying at Sheraton Senggigi)

BMC is the best money changer on Lombok.

There are others that are OK but this one is consistently the best.

Rates are consistent with Bali and they are part of a larger group operating on Bali as well... General information on this currency dealer is here... http://www.balimaspintjinra.com/

You can find this money changer at Jalan Raya Km 13, Senggigi, Lombok Barat .

Phone : +62 370 692247

That is at the southern end of the township, the opposite end of Senggigi from the Sheraton.

They are set back a little from the road next to a mini-mart and the Casanova nightclub, on the left heading south, near a (unnoticeable) bridge and before going up the hill at that end of Senggigi.

Very nice people, electronic rate board inside on the wall, live TV feed showing international rates and a hand written rate board on the road.

Check inside as the rates are updated frequently in line with market rate fluctuations.

I agree BMC is the best money changer. If you cant be bothered walking to the otger end of town there are several others closer to the Sheraton. Ive never had a problem with dishonestly at money changers in Lombok, it is not like Bali where many money changers rip you off

Yes, that is the case, though some of them have some less attractive rates that sort of silly behaviour that goes on with some of those illicit money changers on Bali is absent from Lombok.

Do of course always use care, and be alert for any discrepancies, or a mistake in counting or understanding of the expected rate.

There is one at Senggigi Square, and there is the BNI bank only just down the road (you will likely need to present your passport at the Bank).
