PV safe locations with nearby (nature and/or safe) walking?

Hi, thinking of travelling to PV this winter. last stayed in great place 10 minutes bus-ride south of town but it was right on on "highway" (think it was #200) and traffic made it dangerous to walk. Ideally nature, for sure not in all-built place. Ideally by the sea or short walking distance.

PS we're also open to other destinations/countries altogether that are safe (we're Canadian), reasonable, no need for car, combination of nature, water, and things to do.

thanks in advance!

Yes, Hwy 200 is the main drag,,, Not really wise to walk on.

You were probably staying in Conchas Chinas or Mismaloya area.

Check Old Town/Zona Romantica, or Centro/Hotel Zone.

PLENTY of choices from hotels to condos. Nothing is very far from the beach/malecon (boardwalk)

and you'll be in the middle of it all. Safe areas to walk.

Bus service north to Bucerias, Sayulita is excellent. The one road that goes there is Hwy 200 ;-)

Thanks, appreciated! We actually don't want to be right there on the boardwalk with so many people at all times of day and that 'touristic' feeling. Any additional ideas?

PS what's it like in Nuevo Vallarta? We didn't get to check it out.

Did not mean ON the boardwalk... but close enough to walk if you want to OR take the bus north or south.

You can be well off the beach and be a safe 10 minute walk away.

Nuevo Vallarta has many nice large resorts that are spread out, You don't get the village/town experience like PV.. Some are very large compounds that some people don't leave.

Are you familiar with Bucerias ? It's a little further north than NV. Few miles of safe beach. Lots of rooms & restaurant options. About 30 min bus ride to PV (along Hwy 200) for 17 pesos.

Lots of Canadians roost there. The last 2 are Nayarit State rather than Jalisco

Kind of depends what your day to day priorities are VS what you can get to if you want to,
