One property that is mentioned here periodically is the Glen Grove Suites, located in the midtown area of the city. I have no experience of the property itself, but it is very well located for shops, subway/public transit, and most importantly for you - very close to a lovely park with playgound area. The neighbourhood is mainly residential and very safe and accessible. i think the apartments are a bit tired - it is an older building - originally built as apartments, but now turned into a long stay hotel.

Otherwise, you might take a look at the Toronto Vacation Rentals section here on the TA site - pick a few that look interesting and come back to us for further advice.

Hi Sarah1Callaghan,

Welcome BACK to the TORONTO TRAVEL FORUM

Wow, how quickly the last year has passed !!

Agree with PHPR you might want to check out the HOLIDAY RENTAL listings here on TripAdvisor for Toronto = tripadvisor.ca/VacationRentals-g155019-Revie…

These listings are maintained thru FLIP KEY a sister website to TA... and therefore they've been checked out (vs stuff you might otherwise find on the internet where you have to take someone's "word" for it)... we have used the FLIP KEY listings in the past for a vacation we took where we were unable to "see" things beforehand, and I have to say it was a good experience for us... everything was as it was "stated" upfront by FLIP KEY (and the local Property Management Company that we signed with)... in all regards the property "matched" the photos shown etc. So no surprises!

Therefore I have no qualms recommending this TA service.

Hope this is helpful,

Cheers!

PS... And a BIG Welcome to Canada eh !?

;-) *wink*

This is close by the Riverdale area, and seems to have tons of positive reviews. Maybe not a full self-catering, but B&B that might help you all land on your feet. maps.google.ca/maps/place…

You'll be close to Riverdale Farm, an antique working farm in the middle of the city. And, as I say, you'll be closer to your own new 'hood, so to keep the kids a little less dislocated. Glengrove suites are okay, but they're up at the other end of the city, so maybe easier on you all to just try to stay where the kids will start recognizing the area.

Great good luck to you all. Welcome to Toronto.

Try a search on airbnb.com . You can select "entire home/apartment" as a filter. For instance, here's a listing for a small furnished home close to Riverdale and parks. Depending on your arrival date he's charging $105 to $155 a night. You may be able to negotiate something with him (or others) for 5 day stay.
