Senior Citizen Discount on GO Trains

My wife and I are over 65 and plan to spend a few days in Oakville, Ontario, commuting daily from there to Downtown Toronto. As visitors (we are UK residents) to Canada, are we eligible to claim Senior Citizen's Discount on fares on the GO trains? If so, do we have to carry our passports as proof of age?

Yes you would be eligible. It's unlikely you'd be asked for proof of age, but anything that has your age on it should suffice (drivers license, etc.).

From gotransit.com/public/en/docs/Tariff_EN.pdf :

"6.3 - Senior Citizens need not be residents of Canada.

6.4 - Senior Citizens may be asked by a Proper Authority to show proof of age, and therefore must carry reasonable proof of age identification at all times while travelling on the GO Transit system in order for their ticket to be valid."

From Oakville GO station to Toronto Union Station, the senior's fare is $3.65 (or $7.30 for a "Day Pass", if you're going to be making a round-trip).

So how old do you need to be for senior discounts, 55, 62, 65 years old ?

Figures, lol

Where was it, oh in Windsor long ago in the mid 1990's, some store had senior discounts and you only had to be 55 years old...today the talk is to increase the age to 67 or higher, ugh.

In the interest of clarity, the original question was about the age for a senior discount on Go Transit which is 65. Many retailers in Ontario offer seniors discounts (sometimes only on specific days of the week) at various ages based on their own policies.
