Another vote for my home town of Kingston.

Since you've posted on the Kingston forum, one assumes you've already figured out it's the most obvious choice as a midway point. However travelling with a dog will limit your options for accommodation (especially at a B&B), and note that most hotels that allow pets, do not allow them to be left alone in the room. You will not be allowed to take the dog into a restaurant. I would seriously re-think bringing your pet.

In addition to the accommodation options listed under the hotels tab at the top of this page, you can also check the BB Canada site for B&B accommodation.

The next best option after Kingston would be Brockville.

Although I think Kingston is the most logical choice if you want to travel a bit further west for an overnight Prince Edward County, Belleville and Cobourg are other possibilities.

I strongly agree that bringing your dog will limit your choice of accommodations and/ or increase your cost. Having said that I'm regularly advised by pet owners that their dog is a member of the family and the cost of a kennel is not cheap.
