do tour AROUND in a couple days so u can see sights we are going aug for a week
You can drive around the trail in one day but that would be without taking any short hikes or spending time anywhere along the way.
There is more information, including some maps here: https:/…Learning.About.Cape.Breton.html
Sydney should not be your base to travel the Cabot Trail; when you arrive on the island , most people take Route 19 along the coast to the Cabot trail at Margaree Harbour . they plan on 2 nights on that west side of the Island to do things and on the third day finish the trip around the Trail back to their base or Baddeck or head for Louisbourg .
Option is to take 105 to a Cabot Trail Exit l connector about 10 kms before Baddeck which then takes through the whole Margaree Trail to the Cabot trail. lEdited: 10 June 2016, 04:27
Thank you for the response. We've decided on using Baddeck as our base and travel the Cabot trail going through cheticamp to Igonish and back to Baddeck. We have young children and the Cabot trail will mostly be done from the vehicle. We then plan to spend anther day in Sydney and surrounding area. Not sure if this makes sense in terms of timing.
Along the Cabot Trail there are some campgrounds and small parks, some beaches and some very short trails. Your kids should enjoy some breaks. They will not likely enjoy the drive. I have not found that young children are interested in scenery.
Well try to get to at least one beach with your kids for an afternoon .Edited: 10 June 2016, 10:11
Great points , thank you for the input. Sounds like we'll drive half of it and stay over night in ingonish and then spend another day or two going through the rest
