We are planning to go to CB later September, I'm wondering if we would have trouble finding good accommodation if we don't book in advance. I don't have an itinerary yet, and not sure where to stay. We can stay 5/6 nights

Would love places with views.

Thanks

What you can do is look at what is available on your dates in various places. If you have things you want such as views that makes it even more difficult. Many places in Cape Breton are very small and do not have much choice in where to stay.

Tell us your interests and what you hope to see and do in Cape Breton and we may be able to help with a plan.

Thank you for your reply. I'm into photography so looking forward to photo opportunities, we love music hope to see some music in pubs, interested in walk to falls or views, but not extreme. We're in our 60's, we want to have time to enjoy with out being rushed. Interested in the fort. Would like to go up to top of island. We have a car 4x4. We can spend about 6 days, we're flexible. We are thinking of the of week or September 19 or 26.

Any help is appreciated.

You have interests which fit well with Cape Breton.

There is music all over but especially on the west coast. In the Cape Breton link above there is a section for music. Check out the regular music events. There may not be much listed yet because of Covid restrictions but we are most likely going to go into Phase five on Sept. 15 and that means no limitations of numbers indoors.

Have a look at staying somewhere near Mabou perhaps. If you stay there a couple days you would have time to hike the Skyline trail which is just north of Cheticamp.

After your time there continue north on the Cabot Trail and perhaps up to Meat Cove. There is tenting there and a couple airbnbs.

Then look at staying in the Baddeck area. The hike to Uisge Ban Falls is lovely. We did that in late September last year. From Baddeck you could also get to Fortress Louisbourg. However it is in shoulder season so not fully open. It is still worth visiting.
