4 Days in Ucluelet

Hi All,

We're a family of 4 (18 and over) heading to Vancouver Island in a couple of weeks and have most of our trip plan thanks to the kind people on this forum. What we have left is 4 full days in Ucluelet and an afternoon and evening in Vancouver.

Since our time in Vancouver is so short, I'm thinking we'll walk the Seawalk in Stanley Park and possibly take the shuttle to Capillano Bridge. If there's anywhere more specific along the Seawalk or even a memorable restaurant, recommendations are appreciated.

During our 4 days in Ucluelet/Tofino we'll visit Tofino, walk the beach (Chesterman?), hike in Pacific Rim National Park and see the Ucluelet Aquarium. I wouldn't mind doing an, "inexpensive" excursion. I thought I saw something about hot springs that sounded interesting....not sure. Most of our excursion budget is being spent on the East Coat doing whale/grizzly tour so hopefully we have that type of excursion covered.

Any other, "must dos" for Ucluelet?

Thanks in advance!

hi

Chesterman Beach is OK but would do that one if you really need something else.

There is the Wild Pacific Trail in Ukee http://www.wildpacifictrail.com/ from Big Beach at the community centre where you an park to just beyond Black Rock Inn is interesting. If you want an easier walk back to the car you can take the paved road.

Then relocate to the Amphitrite Lighthouse for a walk on either side of the lighthouse or both. + the Aquarium and waterfront near the aquarium before or after WPT.

in the Park - the Visitor Centre is a good choice for a visit and walk on Wickaninish Beach after and/or wander along the trails nearby on that road in.

then there is the Combers Beach - there is a good hike down to the beach in the rain forest to see that part of Long Beach.

then the section at Incinerator Rock with a number of access points which have signs on the beach to you can remember where you left the car.

Radar Hill is a steep hike with not a lot of rewards.

this is the link to the map of the park the Long Beach Unit pdf if you have not found it yet. https:/…brochures

Yes, a zodiac run and hike through the forest to dip in the hot springs is good stuff. Changing room there. Maybe a whale or bear on the way. Better than a walk on the beach.

Hi traysunshine,

It's Glenn here from the Vancouver Island Visitor Centre on the east coast of the island.

Cbaarch provided a great link to the Long Beach Unit of the National Park Reserve. Short trails that are not to be missed are the two rainforest loops shown as #6 on the map. Big trees and unique rainforest plant communities of mosses and lichens...very unique.

An inexpensive excursion from Ukee are the harbour wildlife tours by kayak with Majestic Ocean Kayaking. Perfect for beginners and the trip goes 3 times per day:

Have a great holiday!
