Last time I was in Ixtapa there were a lot of touts in front of the large resorts trying to sell tour packages and/or timeshares. Depending on your negotiation skills, you may able to negotiate a free crocodile farm tour, boat tour, horseback ride, etc. only if you have the tolerance to sit through a high powered timeshare sales pitch.
Must sees & eat...
Playa la Ropa (Beach)
Isla Ixtapa (Island/Beach)
Fonda Doña Licha (Regional Cuisine from the State of Guerrero)
Calle de los Cocos #8
Make sure to try their traditional "Pozole Verde" served with Chicharron (Pork Rinds) & a shot of Mezcal (similar to Tequila). The best value in town...
Walk up the street to the Sunscapes Dorado and cross the street to the commercial area. Then just hop on the bus marked "Playa Linda" (About a ten minute ride). Where you get dropped off, there is a viewing platform where you can view and photograph till your hearts content. Only cost will be the bus ride which is about 10 pesos each way.
Dabuilder made a really good suggestion, but forgot to mention that if you follow his directions, you will see all the crocodiles you want- no need to go to a "farm'. This is a natural habitat- you will also see turtles and many types of birds....and it's free.
Thanks so much for the detailed answers, just what I needed.
The viewing area is so close to the pier where the boats take you to grande isla that you might consider doing both while you are there.
10 minutes or so.
Wow, I didn't realize it was so close. Thank you.
