We are headed to Morelia in a couple of weeks. The forecast calls for rain. Will we be okay with a light raincoat or should we pack a large umbrella too? Is it a heavy, long lasting rain that May brings? Thanks.
The rain is unpredictable in this part of the world, and can also be so local that one part of town will get a downpour and another just a sprinkling or nothing. The weather forecasts are unreliable, especially more than a day or two ahead and they also give a percentage likelihood of rain rather than an outright prediction. San Miguel is at about the same altitude as Morelia. No rain was forecast the other day and yet it rained all night. In the past week, we have had one evening downpour and one overnight. It's not yet supposed to be there rainy season, but climate change makes thing a lot less predictable than it used to be.
I always find a sturdy fold-up umbrella useful if I really have to go out in a heavy shower. Often you can wait it out.
Thanks for the reply. Sounds like it'll be smart to pack at least one good collapsible umbrella. Thank you!
