Real Cuban Cigars at WalMart?? Anywhere Else?

I have read a few old posts that state that one can buy real Cuban cigars at Walmart? Is that really possible? If so, how is the quality of the cigar at Walmart?

Where else can I get some Cubans????

My husband buys them from the beach vendors. I suppose he gets an OK deal.

NEVER buy from the beach vendors! They are fake and are wrapped in banana leaves.

Before you purchase make sure their is a Cuban seal burnt

into the bottom of the box.

I also believe that Sam's Club also sells them and there are some cigar shops along the Blvd.in Cancun

Cubans are not difficult to come by in Cancun because they are not illegal in Mexico.

I checked the Walmart Store a couple of times and found them to be expensive but cheap for Ciggies and Booze etc.

It's possible the Cigar Store is not run by them.

There are some reasonable Mexican Cigars that retail around $5- for 5 and are not bad, I found them in one of the Souveneir Shops but can't recall their names.

Unfortunately Cuban Cigars are never 'Cheap' but I have had some good deals at Airport Duty Frees.

The only other place is Cuba but even there buying in the Street is dodgy with fakes.

I regard myself as mid-range expert on Cigars having travelled nearly 20 times around the Caribbean - but it comes down to your own taste.

Personally I go for Romeo's or Monte's which are fairly easy to get hold of.

Good luck

If you see cigars in souvenier shops in a small box with a glass top on it, those are fake, Habanos doesnt make or sell anything packaged like that. The La casa De Habano is just across the street from the Kukulkan Mall about a half a block north is a sure bet for genuine but it is a little expensive. The best prices in Cancun I have found for real cubans have been at the duty free shops ( with the yellow signs ) at the airport. Those shops are the first place in Mexico that signed a contract to start selling Habanos years ago.

I agree the Cubans in the Souveneir shops are nearly always fake - but I was talking about Mexican ones. :))

Unfortunately unless you buy from a reputable shop (usually expensive) or the Airport you never know what you are buying.

I have bought fakes even in Hotels who insisted they weren't fake.

I now take my own and buy some of the local ones in a Supermarket.
