Private transfer to Zipolite

We are looking to arrange a private transfer to and from the Zipolite area for next New Years. We would prefer to have this pre-arranged to avoid negotiating on the spot.

Does anyone have ideas for a reliable company or individual? What can we expect to pay?

If you recommend using a taxi, what do you estimate the cost to be? We have read it is best to cross the street at the airport rather than getting one right at he door.

We travelled to San Agustinillo in March (which is very close to Zipolite, next beach over). We walked out to the highway from the airport and I believe we paid 500 pesos.

All Mex airports have federally fared air conditioned taxis. Their rates are posted on a board just to the left after you leave the arrivals terminal. Safe and easy. My guess is 1200 Pesos. Local taxis are not permitted to pick up on airport property, will usually not have air conditioning, will be a smaller car and driver probably does not speak English. His price is negotiable but usually about 40% of the federal rate. Local taxis are at the airport gate. Zipolite is about 45 minutes away.

Suggestion, walk out side the airport and cross Hwy 200 and go to the OXXO store. Buy a few ice cold cervezas and ask the taxi's there waiting. Prices there should be under $500 pesos total for the taxi not per person. The drive will be some 55 minutes turning off at HWY 175 and driving thru Puerto Angel.

It is a nice ride and enjoy your COLD cervezas. Until, we do it again this winter.
