We are coming for 2 weeks next week 19 August . Will the children and myself be able to sunbathe and swim in the sea? Is there long periods of sunshine? I really want to get a tan.
There is a strong monsoon front approaching from the West and a tropical storm from the East predicted to clash this coming weekend. It will cause gusty winds and sometimes heavy intermittent and scattered rain. During this period boat tours are not recommendable and the TMD already issued an advisory for small boats to stay ashore.
Following as we will also be travelling this coming weekend with small kids.
Just took a 4 island tour package. Strong winds and high waves. Need to really hold tide on the boat. Not suitable for people that would have seasickness
This is exactly the big problem in Thailand. There are numerous irresponsible tour operators who still conduct boat tours in bad weather and very rough seas, like we have today. But there are also the tourists who go on boat tours despite a stormy sea and risk their lives. The TMD repeated their warnings this morning at 04:00 h and 07:00 h for small boats with less than 30 feet length to stay ashore until at least August 20 and bigger boats to proceed with utmost cautions. The lax attitude to safety is still prevalent despite the recent boat accident off Phuket on July 5 with 47 people dead in stormy sea.
Been here since the 8th and weather hasn't been too bad (occasional shower but warm and bright) but certainly taken a turn for the worse today - torrential rain that lasted hours. No telling what the next days will bring though.....but I think tanning is unlikely!
Bump. Heading there tomorrow, how's the weather holding for next few days?
