Pigeon Cay or Fernandez Bay

This will be our first trip to Cat Island and it looks amazing. We are considering these two resorts. Our expectations are clean, relaxing and not too far away from restaurants. Any help would be appreciated. Also, is it possible to rent a boat and go to surrounding islands?

Both resorts should be clean, etc. Email or call them regarding proximity to restaurants. Your idea of "not too far" may be different from mine!

Renting a boat to go to surrounding islands is not a good idea, they are definitely too far. There are 2 small keys that you might want to paddle out to from Fernandez, if the wind is not too strong. Also, there are several charter boats available, if you just want to go for a boat ride or fishing.

Shannas Cove is a wonderful resort, too. I would suggest renting a car for 1-2 days and tour the entire Island.

Tail Winds is also very nice. Suites are only steps away from the gorgeous water, and the resort is VERY CLEAN with all the amenities you need. and since it's next to Shanna's Cove to you can walk there for lunch or dinner or eat at Tail Winds.

Yes this is the best! Rich can take you around or lend you one of his personal vehicles.

Tailwinds is great! Rich can lend you a personal vehicle, or if you let him know early enough he can plan your meals. But you must stop and eat at the "Da Smoke Pot" to eat dinner, call by 2pm to ask for the menu and make rsvp. Also stop by and see Grammy "Cocktails by the Sea" she is 100yrs old and still doing well.

I recently did recon on these properties. Pigeon's is situated on the south base of the massive creek refereed to as Alligator Point, a spectacular mangrove ecosystem ringed by idyllic beaches. Fernandez is farther south and located adjacent to Smiths Bay on a perfectly shaped crescent beach reminiscent of the south pacific. You can't go wrong with either if awesome beach front property is what you're after.
