Getting around in Bimini

We are spending a couple of days in Bimini in late January and were trying to figure out transportation. Bimini looks to smaller set of islands with the extra complication of a ferry, so I was curious how others have handled renting a vehicle. We are landing down South but our hotel is in North Bimini. Is it walkable from the airport to the ferry, then the ferry to the hotel? Additionally, is the island small enough that you could walk to the beaches, etc, or would you want a golf cart or car to get you around? Maybe just cabs?

We are comfortable driving overseas, but seeing how relatively small the island is, we didn't want to rent a car if it would just create logisitcs issues and walking was just as esay.

Thanks so much for any suggestions

PS: We are staying at the Hilton, if that is helpful for any suggestions

Hi. First of all, you chose the right place. Bimini is a great vacation.

Moving from the airport. You need to get a taxi to the government dock, then a ferry to North Bimini and then another taxi to the Hilton. That sounds a lot, but it really is simple. It should cost less than 10 Dlls per person.

Once at the Hilton, there are multiple ways to move around. You can use the Trams by Hilton and Resorts World, to move around all of the Resort. They are free (love that word).

You can also rent a golf cart. There are multiple golf cart rentals inside the resort. ABC Car Rentals is very reliable, as well as Sue and Joy's. All within a few minutes from your room.

Third choice, for a more active stay, you can rent a Bike from Bimini Undersea. Located in the Fisherman's Village right across Sue and Joy's. Only $20 Dlls per bike per day.

Last but not least, you can always grab a Taxi within North Bimini. Usually $5 Dlls a ride per person, to any place in North Bimini.

And if you want to have fun and do some great adventures, contact the people in Bimini Undersea. They are the foremost experts in Snorkeling, Scuba, Dolphin Adventures, Shark Encounters, etc. They also rent Kayaks, SUP's and as said before, bikes. You can contact them ahead of time to see what they are offering in those days and make reservations. Pablo will take good care of you.

Hope this info helps, and of course, enjoy Bimini.
