Bimini Road

I am fascinated about Bimini Road and the possibility it may be the ruins of Atlantis. I want to see it. I don't want to dive. But I love to snorkel and we have our own equipment.

Is it possible to see the rock formations without having to dive? How deep is the water above the Bimini road rock formations please?

Thank you

1. Re: Bimini Road

The formation called Bimini Road has been identified by some as 'beach rock' as described in this quote from Wikipedia:

"The blocks consist of limestone composed of carbonate-cemented shell hash that is called "beach rock". Beach rock is native to the Bahamas."

"The consensus among geologists and archaeologists is that the Bimini Road is a natural feature composed of beach rock that orthogonal and other joints have broken up into rectangular, sub rectangular, polygonal, and irregular blocks."

If you send me a PM, personal message, here with your email address I will send you some photos I took of 'beach rock' on Paradise Island back in May 2010. Winter storms caused severe beach erosion in front of the Coral and Beach Towers at Atlantis. 'Beach rock' was exposed right in the surf. I took some photos of it. It looks just like the Bimini Road 'beach rock'.
