The best weather times are usually the peak times, but you may be able to take advantage of the so-called "shoulder seasons" that are before and after the main busy periods. Early to mid-November are good shoulder seasons, as it is jbefore the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year busy season. Early January is also a good relatively uncrowded time, but the water can be much cooler for swimming.

If you're looking for uncrowded, stay away from school holiday times and resorts that offer day passes to the cruise ship passengers. I see from antoher post, you're looking for AI, but it's not really a model here as in Mexico and the Dominican Republic. That said, many of the out island hotels offer a European plan that includes breakfast and dinner and some drinks. Those are usually much smaller and far more peaceful than the Nassau/PI options. And depending on what you want to do, the beaches are much nicer and usually have them all to yourselves, but don't expect casinos and shopping. We are 700+ islands, so lots of choices!

@Juey, yes, the water is good for swimming just about all year round (and certainly compared to your nexk of the woods!!) The ocean does get quite a bit cooler from Dec - Apr, but is still swimmable, though brisk! Our current ocean temperatures are akin to a bathtub, so I'd think mid to late November will be quite pleasant.

The biggest issue for the "winter" months isn't so much the water temps, but gettingn out afterwards into a brisk breeze that feels cold. Have a towel at the ready for winter swimming. Dor all-day swimming and diving in the winter months, you'll either want to keep the swims shorter or use a shortie wet suit.

I was in the ocean 2 days ago and it was almost too warm -- which does not bode well for the storm season.

Aww thanks so much. Yes I would not be in the ocean here in November, although I did swim on Boxing Day one year, for charity, I was 16 though lol. I can’t wait to come to see some of your beautiful Islands x

@Juey, I think yoy'll love the crystal clear blues and greens of our ocean waters. Having been around most of the UK's coast (except the eastern shore of England), I can say unequivocally that Bahamian waters are much prettier colours! Only the Scillies come close!

If you have a chance, do go on one of the Exuma Cays day trips -- that's where you'll really see the colours. Or spend a few days on one of the out islands for a taste of the isalnds away from the main tourist areas. http://www.bahamas.com is a good primer for each of the main islands.
